About Faces

At Ohio’s Center for Oral, Facial and Implant Surgery, an advanced team of surgeons is giving patients something to smile about.
They may be one of the largest practices in Northeast Ohio, with three locations, four oral/maxillofacial surgeons and one periodontal surgeon— and they might have amassed an impressive collection of next-level technology—but every aspect of Ohio’s Center for Oral, Facial and Implant Surgery is programmed to make patients feel at home and at ease with their level of care.
“Our dynamic is that we truly value our relationships with patients and do everything we can to create comfort and reduce anxiety at each step of the treatment process,” says founder Dr. Keith M. Schneider. Since his father, Dr. E. Karl Schneider, was also an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, he knew from a young age he wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps.
The field of oral and maxillofacial surgery is an exacting blend of art and science, esthetics and function. These highly trained surgeons can correct and perfect all aspects of the mouth, teeth, jaw and face.
“Our multidisciplinary team prides itself on being highly collaborative,” says Dr. Schneider. “Serving patients of all ages, we are on staff at seven hospitals in the area, and all the doctors serve as faculty members at Case Western Reserve University. We are also on call with five area hospitals to handle emergency cases of trauma to the face.”
The most common procedures they perform are wisdom teeth removal and dental implants, followed by TMJ and snoring/sleep apnea correction, corrective jaw surgeries, cleft lip and palate repair, and bone and tissue grafting, as well as cosmetic surgery and anti-aging treatments.
Dr. Schneider says many of the innovations in his field over the years surround imaging and its impact on diagnostics and precise treatment.
They were one of the first practices to introduce 3D Cone Beam CT scanning technology to the area. It allows the doctors to perform a wider range of diagnoses and treatment options.
And as the ideal companion, the practice has also invested in state-of-the-art Dolphin 3D Surgical Planning.
“This is a mechanism for processing the 3D data we collect,” says Dr. Schneider. “It allows us to analyze cranial facial anatomy from the data, orient the images, and adjust things like tissue density thresholds. We utilize it for everything from dental implants to facial reconstructive surgeries.”
“We use biologic products such as blood or tissue substitutes to rebuild and regenerate tissue with fluids that enhance healing,” he explains. “And we can help gum and bone attach to the root surface, to assist in more rapid bone regeneration.”
Dr. Schneider says their ambiance is designed to ensure patient comfort. The surgical suites are warm and inviting, with instruments housed behind homey cabinetry. Patients can even select their own favorite music during procedures.
