German immigrant who came to America when she was 10 years old, Dr. Helen Torok credits hard work and determination for her success. But it is her sincerity and passion that permeate everything she does.
“We listen, and we care,” says Dr. Torok, who founded Trillium Creek Dermatology & Surgery Center in Medina after moving her practice from Akron, as she yearned to work in the city she lived in. “As a community- centered dermatology practice, we offer more personalized care. We guarantee same-day appointments and offer fast, effective treatments.”
Through an integrative medical approach, Trillium Creek Dermatology offers skin cancer screenings, treatments for adult and pediatric dermatology, cosmetic services, holistic medicine and medical- grade skincare products.
A skilled team of doctors, physician assistants and nurses treat skin conditions ranging from acne to eczema to rosacea, as well as provides cosmetic services.
“There are 3,000 diseases in dermatology, and each has its own treatment,” says Dr. Torok, who has authored numerous articles on skin disorders in medical journals and serves on the Advisory Editorial Board of Dermatology Times. “At Trillium Creek Dermatology, we offer fast, lasting results for every skin condition.”
One of the areas of expertise is skin cancer detection and treatments. The skincare experts treat skin cancers with leading-edge laser treatments and innovative photodynamic therapy. The Mohs Surgery Center is a 6,000-square- foot dedicated Mohs surgery building, which is adjacent to the 30,000-square- foot dermatology center in the flagship Medina office. They also do skin cancer screenings in their Wooster, Wadsworth, and Brunswick offices.
“We heal our patients and make them healthy again,” says Dr. Torok. “And we stress the importance of annual skin cancer exams for prevention.”
“People are more tuned in to their skin today than in the past, and take skin concerns to heart,” she adds, noting patients are more diligent when it comes to annual skin cancer screenings.
“You are never too young to get skin cancer, as my youngest melanoma patient was just 12 years old,” she says. “But the good news is that most conditions, if caught early, are 100% curable.”
At Trillium Creek Dermatology, the staff has specialized training to treat babies, children and teens, including everything from diaper rash to acne to warts.
And at the other end of the spectrum, the practice offers anti-aging cosmetic treatments, including Botox, fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal, and PRP hair regrowth.
Equipped with the latest technology, the staff uses 30 different lasers for everything from treating psoriasis to microneedling to tattoo removal to TruSculpt body contouring.
Dr. Torok and her daughter, Heather Funk, MBA, have created their own skincare and makeup line, H&H Science. “When you are treating diseases of the skin, you must have the appropriate skincare products, so we created our own product line that we carry in our offices,” she says.
Working 40-plus years in the dermatology field, Dr. Torok has no plans to retire because she says it is so gratifying helping others. In fact, the practice is expanding. In the last two years, new offices were opened in Wadsworth and Brunswick.
